Forested islands, turquoise waters, colorful boats, this is how we like to remember Thailand. Located in the Southern Asia, Thailand is a kingdom that was influenced by the Indian, Cambodian and Chinese culture, having Buddhism as main religion. Thai people are simple, kind and always ready to greet you with a smile (it is not called “Land of smiles” for nothing).
From the scenery and culture, to nightlife and traditional cuisine, here are 10 reasons to visit Thailand!
The cheap cost of travel
Thailand is a very friendly country for backpackers and budget travelers. There are plenty of hostels and hotels that are very cheap and affordable. Likewise, the street food is low-priced, as well as the local transport.
The beaches and the deep blue waters
The countless Thai islands have incredible beaches where the fine sand goes lightly into turquoise waters. With thousands of tropical islands, Thailand offers a wide variety of beaches to choose from. Some of them are quiet, or proper for families, or touristic, or secluded. Or some of them are just perfect for you!
The amazing sunsets
Thai sunsets are so beautiful and spectacular that there are not enough words to describe them. Therefore we will drop some photos below to convince you.
There are so many Thai dishes so it is hard to choose the tastiest one. Many of them are based on rice and noodles, but no worries, you won’t eat the same thing. The seasoning and the spices make the food to be particular, delicious and special. Just note that their idea of spicy is very different than in European countries. Order mild if you don’t want to feel a big fire in your mouth. 🌶️🌶️🌶️
The colorful markets
These places are very well described by 3 words: color, flavor, fragrance. Some markets are dedicated to cooked street food while others are focused only on fruits and vegetables. Antiques items, clothes or cosmetics are also found in these markets.
The temples and the Thai culture
The Buddhism religion is fascinating and the cultural impact is massive. In Thailand there are over 40.000 temples waiting to be discovered. Thai temples are colorful buildings displayed in different sizes and architectural styles. The inside walls comprise paintings showing tales that reveal the life of Buddha. It’s a pity not to start including them in your travel list.
Thailand has many national parks that host a richness wildlife, as well as plenty of beaches filled with playful monkeys. You can always go and see the wildlife but be responsible and do not harm the environment or the animals. Remember that is nicer to see them freely than being caged or chained only for tourist entertainment.
The Thai massage
Thailand has plenty Thai massage parlors. Foot massage, back massage, full body massage, etc, you have many types to choose from. This massage combines a lot of stretching and pressing technique with the help of palms, fingers, feet and knees.
The Tuk Tuk trips
This is a very colorful and funny way of transport. No windows, no doors, no seat belts. 😀 Tuk Tuks are only used for tourist proposes so you can always negotiate the price. We know it’s very commercialized but we still like them. 🙂
Thailand is very well known for the nightlife: loud music, cocktails in the buckets, intense dancing with people from all over the world.
Are these reasons enough to start looking for a plane ticket? 😛
